Montreal, Canada Alcan Inc. (NYSE, TSX: AL) announced today that its Vice President of Corporate Communications, Elisabeth Vassallucci, has received the International Business Award for “Best Communications Executive” in 2004. Presented at a gala dinner on Thursday, May 19 in New York, USA, the awards - known as “Stevie Awards” - are the only global, all-encompassing business honours recognizing outstanding performance in the workplace.

Recipients of the 76 International Stevie Award trophies were selected from nominations received from companies and individuals in more than 30 countries. Companies from all over the world are eligible to compete and can enter in more than 40 categories ranging from Best Multinational Company to Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program.
Members of the Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected International Stevie winners from among the Finalists, which were determined by volunteer judges around the world during two months of preliminary judging.
