Montreal, Canada Alcan Inc. (NYSE, TSX: AL) announced today that it is lending its support to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Ilnuatsh (Montagnais) community in Quebec’s Lac-Saint-Jean region. The Company will contribute CAN$50,000 to help organize the festivities, which will be held in Mashteuiatsh through February 2007.

The celebrations will also highlight the rich culture and heritage of the Lac-Saint-Jean Montagnais community and promote openness and understanding toward other cultures.
