While all projects deserve consideration, Alcan does not provide support for the following types of organizations and initiatives: Groups that are not registered with a government as a charitable organization Groups that are not registered with a government as a non-profit organization Religious organizations (except for non-religious initiatives open to people of all beliefs, such as running a home for senior citizens) Political organizations Lobbies and pressure groups Organizations with programs that make distinctions with respect to race, religious belief, gender or sexual orientation Projects outside Alcan's host communities In the area of educational donations, Alcan does not support Canadian organizations that are not part of the Canadian Association of Independent Schools or the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, or, in the case of foreign organizations, the corresponding national associations Individual projects or individuals, other than holders of Alcan scholarships Organizations that have already received direct or indirect donations: e.g., organizations funded by or affiliated with Centraide (United Way) seeing that Alcan already provides major financial support to Centraide Audio and video productions Web site development, except for sites linked to a specific program or service Professional sports organizations Student clubs
