Montreal, Canada Alcan Inc. announced today that effective August 1, 2002, Martha Finn Brooks will be named President of Alcan Rolled Products Americas and Asia and senior vice president of Alcan Inc. Ms. Brooks succeeds Brian Sturgell who was promoted to the Office of the President earlier this year.
Ms. Brooks brings to Alcan 16 years of solid experience with Cummins Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of diesel engines, filtration and power systems. During her years with Cummins, Ms. Brooks held various business development, marketing, sales and general management positions both internationally and in North America
She began her career with Cummins negotiating joint ventures and licensees in China, Mexico, Algeria and Turkey. After two years in corporate strategy, she spent six years based in England where she was responsible for new business development and all affiliates in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the former Soviet Union. She was subsequently vice president and general manager for the multi-plant truck and bus engine business including operations, engineering, global marketing and sales.
In her most recent position at Cummins, Ms. Brooks was vice president, engine business, marketing, sales and engineering worldwide. This position carried global responsibility for truck, bus, marine, construction, agricultural and pickup truck markets.

Ms. Brooks holds a B.A. from Yale University in Economics and Political Science as well as a Masters of Public and Private Management specialized in international business. Prior to working at Cummins, she served as a teacher in the People's Republic of China, operated as an independent consultant and worked for McKinsey & Co. Ms. Brooks will be based in Cleveland, Ohio where she will live with her husband and three sons.
