Montreal, Canada — L. Yves Fortier, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alcan Inc., is pleased to announce today that Dr. Heather Munroe-Blum, principal and vice-chancellor of McGill University in Montreal, will be a candidate for election as a Director at the Company’s Annual Meeting to be held on April 26, 2007.
“We are delighted that Heather has agreed to present her candidature to become an Alcan Director. Her remarkable academic background and leadership skills would be a valuable addition to the Board of Directors,” said Mr. Fortier.
Dr. Munroe-Blum has held her current position since 2003. From 1994 to 2002, she was governor and vice-president of research and international relations at the University of Toronto. She is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a Specially Elected Fellow of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada.
Dr. Munroe-Blum is a director of the Four Seasons Hotels Inc. and the Yellow Pages Group. She is an honorary member of the board of NeuroScience Canada, a director of Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital, the Conference Board of Canada, the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada and the Association of American Universities. She is also a member of the Trilateral Commission.
